Descrição do livro

The village of Arkenvale slumbered beneath a silver-touched sky. Midnight had come softly, as it always did, wrapping the crooked rooftops and moss-lined cobblestones in a veil of silence. Lanterns sputtered out one by one, leaving only the pale wash of the moon to bathe the narrow lanes. In most homes, fires smoldered low, and children dreamed of faraway adventures. The wind curled through empty streets like a wandering spirit, carrying with it the crisp scent of rain on stone.
Yet beneath this seeming peace, something stirred.
From the old watchtower that overlooked the valley, Elias Corven heard it first—a sound so faint it could easily have been mistaken for a trick of the mind. He was no stranger to tricks, having served as both a sentry and a soldier, but this was no creak of timber or whistle of the wind. It was deeper, resonant, as though the stones themselves carried a hidden voice. A low, drawn-out echo rolled across the valley, vibrating in his chest more than in his ears.
Elias leaned over the parapet, eyes straining through the mist. Nothing moved among the clustered houses below, nor in the dark sweep of fields stretching toward the forest. And yet the echo came again, soft but undeniable, as though whispered by something ancient.
His hand tightened on the hilt of his sword—not from fear, but instinct. Fear was for those who had never stood beneath rain-soaked banners or marched through blood-stained soil. Still, a shiver traced his spine. Midnight had always carried an aura of mystery, but this—this was different.
“Shadows stir…” he murmured to himself, recalling words his grandmother once whispered by firelight. She had spoken of times when the night was more than absence of sun, when silence itself harbored voices. “And when they stir,” she had warned, “the living must listen.”
Elias closed his eyes, listening.
The echo did not come as a melody, nor as speech he could understand. It was a vibration that resonated with memory, a hollow sound that reached beyond the ears and pressed into the soul. Images flickered unbidden in his mind: a hall of darkened thrones, a crown toppled and rolling across a stone floor, and shadows moving in reverent silence.
When his eyes snapped open, the valley was still unchanged. But Elias knew the world was not as it had been an hour ago.
