Descrição do livro

The wind stirred gently through the trees, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth. Legendwood Forest, cloaked in its usual mist, seemed to breathe with a life of its own. It was the kind of place that stirred a sense of unease in those who dared to venture into its depths. Few knew the forest well, and fewer still would brave the eerie silence that pervaded its underbrush. The villagers of Ashford, a small settlement nestled on the forest's edge, spoke of it in hushed tones, their words laced with caution.
Elara, however, was not afraid. She had grown up hearing the stories of the forest’s ancient magic and its secrets, and she had always felt a pull toward it, an unspoken connection to the heart of the woods. At twenty-three, she was no longer a child, but even now, the stories of old held an allure that made her heart race. Every evening as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the village, she would look toward the darkening trees, wondering what mysteries they concealed.
Today, she stood on the edge of the forest, gazing into the gloom. The sky was overcast, the clouds heavy with the promise of rain. Elara had been to the forest many times before, but this time felt different. There was something in the air, a shift in the atmosphere, as if the forest itself was watching her. She pulled her cloak tighter around her shoulders and stepped forward, the path beneath her boots soft and slightly muddy from the recent rain.
She had heard the legends of the Vinefold Back—whispers of a hidden valley deep within the forest, a place where time seemed to stand still. Some said it was a sacred ground, others claimed it was cursed. But what caught Elara's attention the most was the tale of the Old Oak, a tree that stood alone in the heart of the forest. The elders in Ashford often spoke of it, their voices laced with fear. They warned of the tree’s strange powers, of the spirits that guarded it, and of the secrets it kept.
Elara had heard the stories since she was a child, and they had always fascinated her. But it wasn’t until that morning, when she overheard two old men arguing in the village square, that she felt the undeniable urge to seek out the tree for herself. One man had spoken of a strange dream, of a voice calling to him from the forest, urging him to come closer. The other man, a firm believer in the forest’s dark magic, had warned that the Old Oak was not something to be trifled with.
“Do you not hear it?” the old man had said. “The whispers. They’re in the wind. They’re in the roots of the trees. The forest calls to those who seek it.”
Elara had listened intently, feeling a sense of urgency rise within her chest. She had always wondered why the forest seemed to call to her so strongly, why she felt such a deep connection to its mysteries. That night, she could hardly sleep, her mind racing with thoughts of the Old Oak and the Vinefold Back.
