Judicial review is a pervasive feature of administrative law in the United States. After a federal administrative agency takes an action, an aggrieved party may usually seek review of that action in a federal court.

In most cases, the court will determine whether the agency’s action complied with substantive legal requirements, whether it followed required procedures, and whether it was sufficiently rational.

If the court determines that the agency failed to meet these standards, the court may hold the action unlawful and set it aside.
