This description is followed by explanations of the value of complaints and the need to resolve them quickly and effectively. The following chapter outlines why some people say that complaints should not be allowed in the Armed Forces. The next chapter outlines several hundred complaints, drawn from several countries. The objective of presenting these complaints is to show the reader the typical scope, type and content of complaints by military personnel in order to be able to address them better. Understanding complaints is an important first step towards improving their management and resolution. The following chapters look at some of the ways in which countries report complaints, the time it takes to resolve them, and typical complainants.
