Amigurumi Crochet Pattern for lion Toy.

This pattern uses basic crochet stitches suitable for beginner level. To make this lion, you will need to able to change colours and do a standard increase and decrease stitch.

ABBREVIATIONS

This pattern is written in UK terminology

• sl st - slip stitch - ss
• st - stitch
• sts - stitches
• dc - double crochet= (US Term - Single Crochet)
• Dec - decrease
• Inc - increase - 2 dc in same stitch
• Magic loop - Magic circle/ring

You can make this pattern with any yarn type however it is best suited to cotton or acrylic yarns. The thickness of the yarn will affect the finished size of the toy. I recommend using a fine to medium weight yarn for this pattern. This toy is approx. 21cm when made with light worsted/dk weight yarn. To make your lion, you will need yarn in Three Colours.

Recommended Yarn: light-worsted/DK yarn in 100% cotton [50g = 125m]

Yarn brand: Paintbox yarns cotton dk - 3 Colours (I used melon sorbet, fudge, and champagne white). You can find the yarn I used here.

Primary Colour: Melon sorbet - 2x 50g balls or (about 250-270 m)
Secondary Colour: White: - 1/2 ball
For Mane: Brown: - 1/2 - 3/4 Ball

You can substitute for a different weight/material. Thicker yarns will result in a larger toy. Each colour yarn you use should be the same thickness.

Hook Size

• 2.5mm

The hook size you choose will depend on what yarn you use, For amigurumi it is recommended you use a smaller hook size than written on your yarn Label. This will help to keep your stuffing from showing through your stitches.

• Safety eyes 8mm (Optional) OR
• Black Embroidery thread/4ply yarn for eyes, nose and mouth
• White thread/yarn for eyes
• Needle
• Scissors
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch markers
